Launching a new recipe with Dale Pinnock in time for National Wellness Month

 

August is National Wellness Month and here at Soloberry we are a dedicated team passionate about the health and wellbeing of our future generations.  This year we have been working with The Medicinal Chef, Dale Pinnock to understand why berries are so good for us, as well as being so tasty.  So far, he has joined us at Global Berry Congress in Rotterdam, presenting on the mainstage as to why berries are so brilliant, especially the power of blueberries.  Whilst we were there, we shared our smoothie recipes and got a few people to try out our smoothie bikes for added health and wellbeing, we even got Dale on there!

More recently Dale joined us in our test kitchen, helping to bring berries into your day to day lives by sharing some great recipes he has written just for us.  Later this year we will be launching a recipe section here on the Soloberry website – so watch this space!

This is what Dale has to say about the berries we love so much:

“Berries really are one of the most powerful weapons in the arsenal against cardiovascular disease. Their high flavonoid content has amazing influences upon our circulatory system. They can cause our blood vessels to dilate, keeping blood pressure low. They also help to protect the lining of vessels and make it much more resilient to the inflammatory damage that can set the stage for plaque formation and eventually heart disease. Flavonoids are generally colour pigments in the deep red through to blue and purple end of the spectrum. So, for maximal hit, go for the deepest darkest berries you can find.”

Meanwhile to celebrate the start of #wellnessmonth we are joining one of the activities for the month long sessions of wellness, with the 4th August topic “try a healthy new recipe”.  We are pleased to share with you a great recipe from Dale for Raspberry, Oat and Mixed Seed Crunch Layer.  Dale says this is one of the simplest ways to use fresh fruit and a perfect made ahead breakfast. You can make a few of these at one time and keep them in the fridge, for a grab and go option during the week.  This recipe makes two so just double up the quantities.

Raspberry, Oat and Mixed Seed Crunch Layer

Ingredients:

4 tablespoons of fresh raspberries

4 tablespoons of coconut yogurt

4 tablespoons of mixed seeds

4 tablespoons of porridge oats

1 teaspoon of maple syrup

 Method:

  1. This one is super simple. In a glass tumbler, begin layering up the ingredients. Start with a layer of raspberries, then a layer of yogurt, then seeds, then oats. Then simply repeat this until you get to the top.

  2. Drizzle the maple syrup over the top layer.
